Comments

When you leave comments on my blog, I collect the data shown in the comments form in addition to your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After I approve your comment, your profile picture is made visible on my blog in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my blog, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on my blog may include embedded content, for example, slide presentations, videos, images, or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you have visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Sharing of your personal information

Except for where it is required by law or where you consent to the disclosure of your personal information, I will not use it for any reason other than for the purpose you gave it to me.

Keeping your personal information

If you leave a comment on my blog, your comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely.

If you subscribe to my newsletter, your email address and first name (if provided) are retained until you unsubscribe.

You can request a copy of any personal information you have given to me by contacting me in writing. You can also request that I erase any personal information I have about you. I may charge an administrative fee for meeting access requests. I may also ask you for identification before releasing your personal information.
